May Suon Dong Cooperative in Thai Nguyen is a standout example of a green startup model, combining traditional clean tea production with immersive community-based tourism. Through its safe tea products and unique homestay experience—where visitors can pick tea leaves, cook with firewood, and enjoy dishes made from tea—the cooperative demonstrates how small, creative initiatives can be easily replicated and scaled.
Within a short period of operation, the model has consistently attracted 2–3 visitor groups per week, becoming a favored destination for travelers who value simplicity and nature. May Suon Dong was also selected as a highlight of the local-level “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) program, proving its potential for broader replication.
Participating in the P4G Vietnam Summit 2025 provided May Suon Dong Cooperative with opportunities to connect with organizations, experts, and businesses interested in sustainable rural development and community-based tourism. The cooperative was able to present its clean tea and cultural homestay model to an international audience, while gaining valuable insights and experiences in developing OCOP products aligned with green economic principles.
With its creative and flexible approach rooted in local resources, May Suon Dong is not only generating economic value for the community but also helping to shape a new path for rural development—greener, more culturally rich, and more sustainable over time.
